Light an LED

Every circuit starts with one light. Send power from pin 13 through a resistor to the LED and switch it on.

Parts needed: Arduino Uno, Red LED, 220Ω resistor
Wiring:
  • Pin 13 → resistor → LED long leg
  • LED short leg → GND rail
GoalMake the LED glow.
Tip: Try this: change HIGH to LOW and run again. What happens?

About Circuit Shala

A free virtual Arduino lab: wire a breadboard, write the sketch, press Run. No kit, no sign-up.

All 10 experiment guides

Can I learn Arduino without buying hardware?
Yes. Circuit Shala is a virtual Arduino Uno and breadboard in your browser. You wire the experiment, edit the C++ sketch, press Run and watch the LEDs, buzzer and servo respond.
What can I build in Circuit Shala?
Ten guided experiments: light an LED, blink, a traffic light, a push button, a buzzer melody, a dimmer knob, a night lamp, a servo door, a parking sensor and a smart home.
Is the code real Arduino code?
The editor accepts everyday Arduino C++ such as pinMode, digitalWrite, analogRead, delay, tone and Servo. It is a learning simulator, so very advanced libraries are not supported.
